    Role Summary

    The Joinery Quantity Surveyor is responsible for overseeing all commercial aspects of joinery manufacturing projects, providing detailed financial reporting, and coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure cost-effective project execution

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Project Financial Management: Oversee all commercial aspects of joinery manufacturing projects This includes managing the projects Variation Order (VO) tracker, securing VO approvals, and monitoring Purchase Order (PO) details
    • Cost Analysis and Reporting: Prepare and present Cost-to-Complete (CTC) reports for each project, conduct detailed cost analysis against each BOQ item, comparing estimated cost, actual cost, and setting out planned costs
    • Procurement and Inventory Management: Manage procurement budget, prepare budget comparisons against estimated budget, and supplier quotations Track project inventory, review inventory levels, and advise store to take necessary action
    • Subcontractor and Supplier Relationship Management: Verify and validate subcontractor quotations, manage subcontractors and suppliers payment certifications, and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors
    • Invoice and Payment Management: Prepare monthly payment applications, tax invoices for clients, and review invoicing percentage for projects
    • Cash Flow Forecasting: Prepare cash flow forecasts for all projects for the next quarter, including billing forecast, collection forecast, and balance payable amount for issued PO/WO
    • Contractual Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with the commercial framework and project contractual requirements
    • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with project teams, co-workers, suppliers, and clients across a multinational environment
    • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in processes for increased efficiency and cost savings
    • Risk Management: Understand and manage commercial risks to protect the companys interests
    • Tender Support: Provide support to the Tendering & Estimation Department in preparing the tendering packages for projects
    • Project Management Support: Support the project manager with cost monitoring and controlling, assist with collecting and processing additional orders from suppliers for active projects
    • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of all commercial deliverables and reports
    • Professional Development: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and GCC market conditions

    Personal qualities

    The ideal candidate for the role of Estimator has the following skills, personal qualities, and experience:

    • Relevant Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years experience in a similar role within the joinery or fit-out contracting sectors, preferably on large scale projects
    • Educational Background: A degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field
    • Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the joinery industry, material procurement processes, and cost management
    • Regional Expertise: Familiarity with the GCC market, regional material suppliers, and local contracting environment
    • Contract Analysis Skills: Proven experience in subcontract analysis, final account settlements, and contract negotiation
    • Software Proficiency: Skilled in using MS Office tools
    • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with project teams, suppliers, and clients
    • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze cost variances, contractor quotations, and financial data
    • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in preparing detailed reports, invoices, and financial forecasts
    • Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate favorable terms with suppliers and subcontractors
    • Problem Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve potential issues before they become problems
    • Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, meet challenging deadlines, and deliver high-quality results
    • Teamwork Skills: Ability to work well within a team, providing support and guidance when necessary
    • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and project requirements
    • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of commercial risks and how to manage them
    • Budget Management: Proven experience in managing procurement budgets, preparing cost-to-complete reports, and performing budget comparisons
    • Project Management Skills: Familiarity with project management principles and practices
    • Innovation and Creativity: Ability to suggest improvements in processes for increased efficiency and cost savings
    • Ethics and Integrity: High ethical standards and professional integrity
    • Professional Certifications: Possession of professional Quantity Surveying certifications would be an added advantage
